The Employment Law Paralegal will work closely with internal and external attorneys on a variety of employment law and immigration law matters affecting the Company.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Draft for attorney review, pre-litigation employment law claims from federal, state, and local administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
- Work with HR and business leaders to obtain information for employment investigations and in preparation of defense of employment related claims and litigation.
- Notify and update business leaders of all employment law claims and lawsuits from federal and state courts, along with administrative agencies, and prepare ongoing status reports.
- Conduct legal research on a variety of topics and prepare memorandum for attorney review.
- Assist attorney with drafting employment law presentations.
- Manage and execute document preservation and litigation hold notices.
- Prepare, maintain, and update physical and electronic immigration case files to ensure efficiency, organization, proper case management, and understanding of case status by other office employees and attorney.
- Prepare immigration law drafts of USCIS forms and Company support letters.
- Assist attorney and outside legal counsel with nonimmigrant and immigrant employment-based petitions (H1B, L1, TN, Permanent Residency, etc.).
- Identify and complete daily tasks related to the management of each case, documenting notes in the Company’s case management system.
- Work with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants on a variety of legal matters as part of a team.
- Open and maintain files for all employment law related matters.
- Coordinate Legal Records Hold process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of equivalent experience and education.
- Minimum 5 years of employment law and immigration law.
- Paralegal certificate or degree.
- Must complete continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services
- Strict compliance with required confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and prioritization skills.
- Ability to use judgment, tact, and discretion.
- Ability to quickly assimilate oral and written data, to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions.
- Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent telephone, writing, and proofreading skills.
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong technology and computer skills including Power Point, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and database software program
- Ability to perform legal research.
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures, litigation, and legal calendaring highly desired.
- Strong initiative and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion with regard to reporting functions.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Knowledge of insurance claim and risk management claims handling and procedures
