Position Title: Philanthropy Director
Position Overview
The Philanthropy Director is responsible for preparation, planning and implementation of a comprehensive resource development plan, goals and strategies to retain and expand philanthropic support to achieve SMIF’s financial and programmatic goals. Specific areas include increasing overall financial support including endowment funds, program/directed support, city/county, business and individual giving and special events.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the VP, develop and implement an ambitious and achievable resource development plan to achieve growth and stability in both annual and long-range support to encompass program and endowment efforts, focusing on individuals, businesses, as well as cities/counties.
- Develop and implement a donor acquisition, renewal and upgrade process to build strategic partnerships and increase giving to SMIF.
- Cultivate, maintain and steward relationships focusing on the development and management of a portfolio of prospects capable of giving up to $2,500.
- Work collaboratively with all internal teams to ensure an integrated, collaborative approach to The Foundation’s fundraising efforts.
- Build strategic partnerships with organizations and professionals through networking activities and public presentations.
- Manage and oversee all donor recognition strategies and fundraising events including special events for campaigns, strengthening the relationship of SMIF to current and potential donors.
- Assist the VP in determining the team’s annual and capital development goals.
- Oversee the full utilization of the donor management system ensuring that all relevant information is appropriately tracked and reported, including donor and prospect records, prospect research, appointment schedules and development progress reports.
- Oversee any donor communication, management, stewardship, research and reporting systems that are necessary to accomplish work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in development, marketing/sales, public relations, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years related work experience, preferably with a nonprofit or foundation.

- Strong knowledge of fundraising and communication vehicles and methods. ()

- Ability to travel within SMIF’s 20-county service area as needed.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
