Responsibilities:
POSITION OUTLINE:
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company’s maintenance Shop in Houston, TX. This role ensures that equipment is procured and maintained in good working order, repairs are conducted efficiently, and inventory is properly managed to support the company’s construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety

Develop and maintain safety compliance according to Posillico standards.

Maintain all safety records.

Ensure that all accidents involving equipment and personnel are reported to the Safety department.

Participates with the Safety Department in safety meetings and implementation of effective safety programs.
- Is responsible for meeting all OSHA standards as they pertain to equipment and shop-related functions.

Assures that equipment shops and other equipment areas are maintained in an orderly, clean, secure, and professional manner.

General Business

Prepares annual business plan and budget for equipment operations within appropriate company guidelines.

Develops departmental objectives and strategies to maintain overall effective equipment programs. Monitors monthly financial performance and responds as necessary to changes in workload, etc.

Develops and manages positive, beneficial relationships with suppliers of equipment, parts, and materials to ensure budget restrictions are maintained.

Monitors all yard and shop operations to ensure compliance with company policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Coordinates scheduling with field operations to optimize the utilization of owned and rented equipment.

Equipment Rentals

Understands and monitors the equipment rental process to supplement company assets as needed while minimizing rental expense.

Oversight of Equipment Maintenance

Within boundaries established by executive management, establishes, monitors, and enforces a maintenance strategy that leads to a reliable fleet.

Directs and manages effective maintenance and repair programs. Deciding whether to repair, replace, or no action would be the most cost-effective decision. Determine most efficient use of resources, “outside” or “in house” repair.

Focuses on variable cost components (repairs, labor, fuel, etc.) of equipment operations. Monitors costs in relation to historical results and establishes baselines for future efficiency of equipment.

Ensures that all warranties on assets are being maximized.

“Red tags” equipment when necessary.
- Monitors, records, and reports all the above through the equipment management system (B2W).=

Procures and supplies the shop and field with materials, tools, and supplies needed to complete projects at hand.

Oversees mechanic and yard labor.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

2-5 years of construction equipment service management (or related).
-
Strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills.
-
Strong computer skills.
-
Knowledge of construction and tunneling equipment.
-
General contractor or construction equipment dealership experience (Preferred but not required).
-
CDL (Preferred but not required).
