Duties:
- Works collaboratively with the Program Physician.
- Screens client medical records to assure client medically stable before being admitted to program.
- Maintains and updates client medical charts.
- Remains familiar with client charts and all pertinent client information.
- Documents meetings with client using DAP format.
- Takes clients’ vitals as prescribed by physician.
- Receives feedback from food services manager or dietitian on client response to any physician-modified diets.
- Passes on medical information relevant to treatment and any emerging medical or behavioral concerns to appropriate staff persons (i.e., program physician, psychologist, CSAC, Director, treatment team) via phone or confidential email service.
- Provides education to clients and staff on medical conditions and prescribed medications and/or to clarify doctor’s instructions as required.
- Attends staff, therapy team and individualized rehabilitation meetings.
- Assists with transportation with client to medical appointments and to pick up client prescriptions.
- Insures that clients are receiving medication as prescribed and on schedule.
- Maintains and organizes medical cabinet and monitors and updates MARS documentations.
- Trains staff for nurse delegation; supervises delegation functions of certified staff.
- Administers and reads TB tests for new clients and staff.
- Orders nursing supplies for the Center.
- Works with Compliance Administrator to assure that Office of Healthcare Assurance requirements are being met.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of adult addiction and withdrawal issues.
Qualifications:
- Good written documentation skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Valid Driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Pass all standard pre-employment requirements including Physical, TB test, Background Check, etc.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification to be in place within 1 month of start date and prior to working in any solo capacity.
