Sun River Health is looking to hire a full time Laboratory Services Assistant. The Laboratory Services Assistant is a clinical position that reports directly to the AVP of Employee Health, Laboratory Services, Infection Prevention Control. This position is responsible for coordinating laboratory services including training, competency, audits, and resolution of identified needs for all Sun River Health on site Point of care testing (POCT) and Lab services. S/He provides guidance and direction to employees performing POCT and phlebotomy. The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for travel to Health Centers (Hudson Valley, NYC, Suffolk County) to conduct annual laboratory process and documentation audits when indicated. S/He will collaborate with the Clinical Education Department on a variety of projects including providing guidance with new hire and annual competency training.
Job Competencies and Responsibilities:
· Conduct and provide guidance, training, and skills competency for clinical support staff.
· Ensure that the correct laboratory processing to reference laboratories is performed.
· Assists with site audits and quality assurance monitoring, identify quality issues and opportunities for improving Laboratory Services.
· Assists in the development, review and update of departmental training materials, procedures, and related job aides.
· Assists in maintenance and renewal of SRH NYS CLIA certifications.
· Monitoring of laboratory data reports (including but not limited to infectious disease surveillance, investigational review of laboratory errors)
· Tracking and monitoring of laboratory indicators, including but not limited to abnormal results and/or compliance monitoring of employee requirements (as assistant to the AVP this may also include annual employee assessments- annual assessment form, PPD, Fit Testing).
· Maintains professional competence through participation in staff development and educational training.
· Must be able to travel to sites within SRH regions.
· Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Required Education/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is required, National Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
3+ years experience working with vulnerable patient populations
Clinical skills such as venipuncture, laboratory processing, and point of care testing
3+ years of EMR experience

Hourly rate: $20-24ph
