The Math Teacher position is a full-time teaching position. Teachers teach four sections of their specialized content each day. Teachers are responsible for collaborating with their grade level teams and mentoring any teaching assistants. All Legacy College Prep teachers are responsible for intellectual preparation for each lesson, building strong and positive relationships with students and families, using data to tailor their instruction, and actively engaging in collaboration with their colleagues.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach at least four classes daily
- Plan, implement, and execute engaging and rigorous daily standards-based lessons to ensure that all students master the required content.
- Create comprehensive unit assessments
- Reinforce school-wide rules and expectations.
- Complete other tasks as directed by the Principal.
- Identify students who are academically at risk and initiated effective intervention strategies.
- Communicate frequently with parents, and weekly with parents of advisees.
- Provide supervision before school and after school and during lunch time as assigned to maintain student safety.
Algebra Teacher Job Qualifications
- Unwaveringly high expectations for all the students with the belief that every child should have access to a college education.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of urban teaching preferred.
- New York State teacher license / certification preferred.
- Successful manager of an urban classroom
- Experienced classroom teacher with proven quantifiable objective and student performance gains that surpass state or local averages.
- Ability to work with variety of learning abilities, including those with special needs and low skill levels in a heterogeneously grouped classroom setting.
- Demonstration ability to work well in a team, especially with parents and community members.
- Analytical problem solver.
- Basic understanding of data analysis.
