SCHOOL-BASED LEAD CLINICIAN
SOLANO COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM
Role:
Under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director, the Lead Clinician is primarily responsible for providing direct mental health services to children in the school-based program and their families. Services include engagement, assessment, development of a family-centered treatment plan, providing developmentally appropriate and culturally attuned mental health treatment, and coordination of care with parents, teachers, staff and other collaterals. The Lead liaises with external agencies, functions on teams with other clinical support staff, documents and bills for mental health and case management services and completes outcomes information. We are seeking a leader with previous experience working with systems involving families, including school systems, dependency systems, immigration systems, and criminal justice systems, with a demonstrated ability to engage and develop strong alliances with families, maintain a positive SCMH and ABW presence, and aligns with Leadership in meeting program budgetary and contractual deliverables. The Lead Clinician maintains all client care standards and program expectations while supporting SCMH's training needs, serving as a liaison between clinical staff and management, and other assigned duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The Lead Clinician is responsible for offering mentorship to team members, providing them with expert guidance rooted in extensive clinical experience. This involves sharing insights, techniques, and methodologies that elevate the standard of care provided to clients.

Facilitate the onboarding process for new clinical staff, ensuring they are well-integrated into the team and fully understand their roles and responsibilities.

They play a crucial role in identifying training needs within the team and facilitating professional development opportunities. This includes organizing workshops, and hands-on training sessions to ensure all clinical staff are well-versed in the latest mental health practices and protocols.

Demonstrated understanding of ABW’s Compliance Program and Code of Ethics to support TJC standards.

Availability by phone to assist in crisis intervention and provide support and assistance in problem resolution.

Ability and willingness to contribute to agency quality efforts, including leading peer review, audit, and outcomes processes.

Covers cases in the absence or vacancy of the other MHS’s.

Backs up the MHS’s with program needs, such as assisting in crises, calling outside professionals and families, etc.

Serving as a key communicator between the clinical team and management, the Lead Clinician ensures that staff concerns, ideas, and feedback are heard and addressed. They also communicate management’s strategic vision and operational changes to the team, fostering a cohesive and motivated work environment.

Qualifications:

Marriage and Family Therapist, Master’s in Social Worker, PhD or PsyD from accredited school of social work or psychology. Must registered with BBS or BOP.
- Licensed preferred

2+ years of clinical experience working in non-profit
- Excellent clinical and writing skills.

Ability to create and conduct trainings on clinically relevant topics.

Direct experience working with diverse racial and ethnic populations.

Understanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of infant, early childhood, and family mental health

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Ability to understand psychological assessment reports; psychological assessment experience a plus for psychologist applicants

Must have a car and good driving record

Understand and desire to work with a strength-based mental health approach

Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships

Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team

Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills.

Ability to pass various background checks needed to work with children

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, 40 hours/ week, hours are subject to change based on Client needs and Programmatic necessity. Some evening hours are required.
Travel
Local travel to various worksites is required.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Employees must pass a background check and receive TB and health clearances prior to employment. Compliance with vaccination policy.
