Overview: The Suspension Alternative Program (SAP) Mentor will be a part of an in-school team of Mentors that implements an effective diversionary program, which prevents out-of-school suspensions and connects students to a long term support network through Bench Mark Program. This will be achieved through the development of strong relationships within the School District with School District Administration, Staff, and High School students throughout the school year. In addition to being a part of the Suspension Alternative Program, this individual will be responsible for helping with Bench Mark Programs Summer Camps during the months of June, July, and August to help keep our students engaged when school is not in session.

- Know every kid in SAP
- Know what each kid in SAP needs
- Work on meeting those needs via your own effort or delegation if necessary
- Check in on students while they are in the program and after they complete the program
- Provide support in the execution of all day-to-day programming
- Facilitate lessons for program
- Provide academic support via your own effort or delegation if necessary
- Assist in the completion of daily attendance and daily notes for each student in the program
- Assist in the completion and communication of the daily report as well as graduation reports when necessary
- Work to expand the services available to students within SAP
- Promote Open Gym and the continuation of services to each student in the program
- Create an enjoyable inter-agency working experience/relationship with our partner agency (School District of Lancaster)
- Build strong relationships with school admin, teachers, and staff
For All Staff Members in each Program:
- Interact with Donors and Volunteers when you see them
- Use program resources wisely
- Stepping in and assisting in any program as needed
- Be willing to jump into another program not assigned to you and help in, if requested and if you see a need.
- Cleaning up any space that you or the program you are apart of has used
- Each employee must keep up with proper usage and maintenance of any Bench Mark owned vehicle (Ford Transit, Honda CRV, Bench Mark Van)
- Fill up the gas tank if it at a quarter tank when you are using it
- Clean out the vehicle once you are done using it
- Let the Directors, Executive Assistant, or Executive Director if there is an issue with one of the vehicles
Reporting Structure: Suspension Alternative Program Mentor will report to the Suspension Alternative Program Manager
Hours for Role:
- During the School Year:
- Mondays through Fridays: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- During the Summer:
- Flexible Hours (Must reach between 36-40 hours each week)

Pay: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
