Well-established criminal defense practice seeks a sharp Legal Assistant/Paralegal with prior criminal law experience to assist with completion of case projects in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment. This is an in-person position in Glendale. Compensation is $25-35/hour, depending on experience.
The law firm has a strong reputation, specializing in defending DUI cases, and all other misdemeanor and felony cases in Southern California, as well as Post conviction relief.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain case files
- Track deadlines and ensure court compliance
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings
- Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates
- File documents with courts and manage service of process
- Assist in organizing trial materials and coordinating logistics
- Schedule appointments and manage attorney calendars
- Handle correspondence and maintain databases
- Ensure adherence to legal procedures and stay updated on rule changes
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
