Job Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory for the Memorial Hermann Consolidated Service Center (CSC) stocked items by utilizing the current ERP system to issue purchase recommendations that align with target stock levels. The planner will monitor ongoing inventory levels and may propose stocking level adjustments in response to changes in usage, lead time, or other factors. The Inventory Buyer-Planner regularly reviews inbound deliveries and follows up with vendors on delivery date changes. Position typically reports to the Customer Service/Purchasing Manager.
Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field. In lieu of degree, two (2) years of supply chain management, procurement or purchasing preferably in healthcare environment.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

Minimum two (2) year of experience in a planning/purchasing position, preferably in a health care or distribution center environment

Prior experience working with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to resolve inventory issues

Knowledge of inventory buying processes utilizing an Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system (e.g., Lawson).

Knowledge of Demand Planning processes to be used for inventory management

Customer service focus; strong interpersonal skills

Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can easily follow

Excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to exercise good judgement in handling difficult situations

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Follows up and resolves any CSC inventory-related issues, including back orders, out of stocks, and inventory inaccuracies in WMS's on-hand inventory balances.

Generates purchase orders to vendors for replenishment products and follows up on purchase order shipments from vendors to ensure timely CSC receipt.

Follows up and resolves shipping/receipt discrepancies, working closely with CSC receiving team members.

Utilizes ERP and WMS tools to manage SKU inventory levels for stocked CSC items.

Ensures purchase order and invoice pricing matches contract pricing: follows up and resolves pricing discrepancies, working closely with Accounts Payable to resolve issues.

Works with other CSC managers and team members to resolve any CSC issues or employee-related issues.

Utilizes system reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure purchasing and inventory management performance and system-related performance.

Works closely with product manufacturers and vendors to develop and maintain relationships vital to resolving product purchasing or inventory shortage issues.
