Business:
Brushy Prairie Packing is a small USDA inspected processing plant in Brushy Prairie Indiana. Owned and operated by the Gunthorp family, the plant acts primarily to fill the gap between the live animals raised on the family's farm and their various meat customers across the eastern US.
Position:
Our current openings exist on our second shift, packaging and ground product production team. In this position, you'll be responsible for coordinating with our daily grinding plan and processing team to ensure the completion and accuracy of daily packaging and sausage making needs. You will operate a VC999 420c, a Reiser Lucky Linker, scales, and label machines. This position operates primarily in a small team of up to 4.
Hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4pm until completion of duties (generally between 8 and 10pm). Seasonally, from early July through August, additional hours are available on Fridays, first shift, and Mondays in the afternoon. Additional hours beyond these and year round are available to qualified candidates.
Qualifications: Experience in meat processing is not necessary. Candidates shall:
- Be conscientious, able to abide by basic food safety and product quality standards
- Be dependable, having reliable transportation and the ability to routinely be at work when required
- Be self-motivated, able to implement a plan and identify next steps
- Show curiosity, having a willingness to learn and a desire to always do better than the day before
