A growing Grand Rapids, Michigan based manufacturer is recruiting for a Field Service Technician. This position involves weekly travel throughout the United States. Some travel may be required on short notice.
Field service work includes; machine service (preventive maintenance, parts replacement, calibration, etc.), installations/commissioning, operator/maintenance training, and qualifying the machines at customer locations. Other responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and controls issues. This position will require a technician to upload/download programs to PLCs, PCs, marking system printers, labelers and cameras. PLC programming experience is not required however knowledge and understanding of PLC’s and applications is required. Additionally, the technician will complete appropriate documentation of work performed on each machine and properly reconcile all parts replaced for an accurate inventory and billing procedures.
A strong desire and history of providing ‘Best in Class’ service and outstanding people skills is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Production machine maintenance, machine building, electrical wiring, and/or fabrication experience.
- A solid understanding, aptitude, and experience in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and controls areas along with troubleshooting experience and skills.
- Experience with technician’s instruments and tools, both mechanical and electrical.
- Must have your own tools.
- Solid skills with computers and basic knowledge in Microsoft office products/office software applications.
- Must have experience reading, understanding, and working from mechanical and electrical blueprints/schematics.
- Must have a professional demeanor and appearance, be able to maintain composure in stressful situations, detail oriented, and customer focused, good moral character and able to adapt to change with a positive attitude.
- Minimum high school education, technical training or experience beyond high school is strongly desired.
- A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets car rental and company insurance requirements.
- Good applied math skills, outstanding communication skills, and creative problem-solving skills is required.
- Must be able to operate effectively, efficiently, and independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends (occasionally), as required.
- Able to lift 60 lbs., stand, stretch, twist as needed during service work.
