Summary/Objective
The Cardiovascular Nurse is responsible for the provision of safe and effective care of the patient having invasive or non-invasive special procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab to include the immediate pre-procedure period, during the procedure, and immediately following the procedure.

Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care, developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis, implementing nursing care, and evaluating the patient's responses to nursing interventions.
Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all patient logs, charge requisitions, and other paper work. Organizes activities during the immediate pre-procedure period to ensure that all required assessments are completed and documented fully. Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.
Ensures implementation of operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient rights including, Informed consent, Clarification of patient expectations, Explanation of treatment processes, Maintenance of confidentiality of patient information, Maintenance of patient privacy through prevention of excess exposure during procedures, Ethical considerations, Handling of patient complaints. Participates in a rotational call system as needed to provide for continuous availability of patient services.
Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
2 - 4 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Current RN license in the state of Texas
BLS certification, ACLS certification, EKG certification, Competency for moderate sedation
