Elementary School 1:1 Medical Assistant
Position
Under the direct supervision of the School Nurse or designee, to assist certified professional staff with a student in the classroom to meet instructional goals, medical needs and IEP objectives.
Essential Job Functions

Assists student in acquiring skills as outlined on IEP

Assist student with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.

Assist with medication administration, g-tube feeding and toileting
-
Works with student individually to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.

Assists professional staff in the administration of assessments and data collection to track student progress.

Assists student in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student during lunch, bus duty, playground duty and other related non-instructional areas.

Accompanies students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision and ensuring medical care continuity.

Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
Additional Duties:
- Attend professional development/training opportunities required and/or related to the expectations of the position
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

- Use standard office equipment, rehabilitative equipment, communication devices such as iPad, SMARTboard
Travel Requirements
- Travel between schools and off-site therapies may be required
- Travel to professional development and trainings may be required

Qualifications Profile
-
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

High School diploma or equivalent.
-
Prior experience working with elementary students and students with special needs desirable.
-
LNA perferred but not required
