The Business Data Analyst is responsible for working with all business/operations teams to determine where there are issues and/or gaps in processes, procedures or functions. He/she works directly with all business segments to ensure that the organization moves towards enterprise-wide solutions that meet everyone’s requirements. Significant time will be spent documenting and outlining existing processes across multiple systems and determining where improvements can be made.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and documents current processes (technology and operations) and creates in-depth proposals on where improvement can be found.
- Acts as the voice for all business teams ensuring that their requirements are met.
- Determines the validity of all proposed technology solutions in terms of how they impact existing processes, procedures and functions.
- Designs and maintains a project portfolio including understanding each initiative and how they line up from a priority perspective.
- Manages projects to some extent, although the majority of project management functions will be performed by Project Managers from multiple teams.
- Takes the lead on all technology initiatives for status reporting, both internally (IT) and externally (business/operations/vendor).
- Functions as a product owner/manager (technology side) for several products.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Eight to ten years in the business analysis arena including several years in a senior position responsible for gathering and documenting all forms of requirements.
- Several years working to improve and/or consolidate processes across multiple, diverse organizations.
- Deep understanding of project management philosophies.
- Solid technical expertise regarding system processes and how users interact with individual components within a solution.
- Functional expertise with enterprise platforms.
- Experience analyzing current environments and developing and implementing plans to optimize both performance as well as the user experience.
- Detail oriented and proactive in taking measures to avoid or mitigate issues.
- Ability to make decisions with the best interest of the firm and end-users in mind.
- Demonstrates the organization’s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm’s culture.
