OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the purpose of the Order Prep Operator III - Lead Hand is to direct the workflow of the preparation of poles and shipping, while communicating all activities throughout the shift on a daily basis. As a member of the RS team, this position will support an organizational culture that cares for other's well-being through best practices in health and safety, in addition to the company's values of respect, integrity, quality, teamwork and professional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the team members by strategically coordinating the workflow which includes assigning job tasks and duties in order to meet all order preparation and shipping priorities as per the shipping schedule
- Identify and direct employee issues to the Production Supervisor
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment and report any issues to the JHSC member, supervisor or appropriate manager
- The activities of the department to the next shift's lead hand at the end of shift to ensure a smooth flow and continuation of work
- To the Production Supervisor the activities of the department throughout the shift to ensure daily shipping goals are met
- With the Quality department to identify and address any issues that may arise during the shift
- Assist with the training of new employees
- The preparation of packaging (dunnage) and nesting for shipments
- Participate and lead the department in performing continuous improvement activities to ensure efficiency within the department and to meet the company's goals
- Enter all production data into Epicor at the end of shift
- Performs all duties of an Order Prep Operator
- Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements by maintaining a clean and safe work environment and complying with all Company policies as well as Provincial and Federal Regulations
- Other duties as assigned
TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:
• Forklift/ Lift Truck certificate• Able to operator power tools such as saws, drills, routers and nail guns
- Working knowledge of Metric and Imperial measurements
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and dimensioning
