PRESCHOOL TEACHER
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for primary school in Cedar Hill Prep School.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a full-time, exempt position. During the school year, the Preschool Teacher will be expected to be on campus from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, presence and participation are expected during weekly faculty meetings on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Presence and participation is required before and after the school year for opening and closing weeks.
· Be responsible for the supervision and teaching of the children for whom he/she is responsible.
1. Maintain orderliness in the classroom and on the playground.
2. Make sure children are NEVER left unattended in the classroom or playground.
3. See that no child leaves the preschool area unless accompanied by an authorized parent, guardian, or preschool staff member.
4. Aid children on overcoming difficult situations such as shyness, discipline problems, and toilet problems (this may require changing clothes).
5. Assist children in preparing for lunch.
6. Assist children with snack and lunch, making certain each child is served.
· Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
· Implement daily and weekly learning experiences for the children in accordance with the goals and vision of Cedar Hill Prep School.
· Obtain and/or prepare all materials needed to carry out the program.
· Help in planning and preparing the bulletin boards monthly, using monthly themes.
· Prepare the classroom with an environment conducive to meeting the aims desired.
· Attend staff meetings.
· Participate in activities designed for parents such as parent conferences, Open House, and other special programs.
· Keep the Principal informed of any parent difficulties by written memo.
· Complete an accident or incident report form in case of student injury.
· Set up conference times with the Principal, in cases of staff difficulties.
· Help coordinate, implement, and participate in all social activities, field trips planned for the individual class or total school.
· Supervise, evaluate, train, and acquaint any new staff person assigned to you.
· Be responsible for any other duties that may be assigned to you by the Director.
Teaching
· Collaborate with other faculty on cross-curricular and cross-disciplinary initiatives.
· Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of middle school students.
· Support the mission of the schools, model the goals and values, and actively work toward department-specific goals and vision.
· Will communicate effectively and proactively with parents regarding student performance.
· Will collaborate with other teachers across subject areas.
· Will work with the Founder, Principal, Curriculum teams, cohort teachers to construct curriculum maps and grade-level objectives and ensure their realization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, or Elementary Education
· Experience as a teacher with preschool children two to five years old.
· Knowledge of children’s physical, emotional, and developmental patterns and needs and the ability to implement and share that knowledge. Ability to discern when enrolled children may need special education or medical services.
· Knowledge of general learning theories, curriculum alternatives, and developmentally appropriate practice for programs for children and the ability to implement and share that knowledge.
· Must have the creativity, flexibility and understanding necessary for working with children and adults.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
