Overview:
As the Director of the Housing Authorities’ Self-Insured Fund, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our insurance fund operations, ensuring efficient management and optimal risk mitigation strategies. You will lead a team to develop and execute policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines to maintain the financial stability and growth of the insurance fund.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategies to achieve the insurance fund's objectives, including growth targets, risk management, and financial stability.
- Risk Management: Assess and manage risks associated with insurance fund operations, including underwriting, claims processing, and investment strategies. Implement risk mitigation measures to safeguard the fund's assets.
- Underwriting Management: Oversee underwriting policies and guidelines to ensure profitability and sustainability. Monitor underwriting performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain a balanced risk portfolio.
- Claims Management: Develop and implement efficient claims processing procedures to ensure timely and accurate claim settlements. Work closely with claims adjusters and legal counsel to resolve complex claims issues.
- Financial Management: Monitor the financial performance of the insurance fund, including premium income, investment returns, and expenses. Develop budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards governing insurance fund operations. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Board Administration: Coordinate and prepare materials for board meetings, including agendas, reports, presentations, and other relevant documents. Arrange meeting logistics, including scheduling, booking venues, coordinating catering if necessary, and ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are available. Attend board meetings and maintain a comprehensive record of board meeting minutes, resolutions, policies, and other official documents. Ensure all documentation is properly organized, archived, and easily accessible.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance fund members, brokers, reinsurers, regulators, and other stakeholders. Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries and concerns related to insurance fund operations. Attend professional development conferences and regional member meetings.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to a team of insurance professionals, including underwriters, claims adjusters, actuaries, and administrative staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish performance goals to evaluate the effectiveness of insurance fund operations. Analyze performance metrics regularly and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in insurance underwriting, claims management, and risk assessment, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, regulations, and market trends.
- Proven track record of strategic planning, financial management, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
