Job Title: Detroit Pistons Basketball Camp Coach
Overview: As a Detroit Pistons Basketball Camp Coach, you will be responsible for providing high-quality coaching and instruction to participants in basketball camps. Your role involves fostering a positive and supportive environment where campers can develop their basketball skills, improve teamwork, and cultivate a love for the game.
Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaching: Design and implement age-appropriate drills, exercises, and activities to improve fundamental basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense.
Skill Development: Assess individual camper skill levels and provide personalized feedback and guidance to help them improve their technique and performance.
Team Building: Organize and facilitate team-based activities and scrimmages to enhance teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship among campers.
Safety Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times during activities, including proper equipment usage and adherence to camp rules and procedures.
Motivation and Encouragement: Inspire campers to set and achieve personal goals, overcome challenges, and develop a positive attitude towards learning and competition.
Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating respect, integrity, and good sportsmanship both on and off the court.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with campers, parents, and fellow staff members to address concerns, provide updates, and coordinate activities.
Administration: Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, equipment inventory, and camp logistics as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends and best practices in basketball coaching and youth development through attending workshops, seminars, and other professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Previous experience playing basketball at a competitive level, preferably at the high school or college level.
Coaching experience, particularly with youth or beginner-level players, is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate campers of varying ages and skill levels.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children and promoting their personal growth and development.
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Background check clearance (required for working with minors in many jurisdictions).
Availability to work flexible hours, during the duration of the camp program.
Additional Information:
This position may involve travel to different camp locations, so reliable transportation is essential.
Camp coaches are expected to uphold the values and mission of the camp organization and serve as positive ambassadors for the program within the community.
Compensation for this position typically includes an hourly wage or stipend, with opportunities for additional incentives based on performance and experience.

Monday July 15th - Thursday July, 18th - Van Buren Community Center 8 am - 12 pm
Monday, July 29th - Thursday, August 1st - DEPSA High School 8 am - 12 pm
Monday, August 5th - Thursday August 8th - Dauch Campus 8 am - 12 pm.
