POSITION
The Bark Collective General Manager will oversee all business functions from operational duties to dog behavior and safety. They will lead all client connection and sales efforts; set a standard for dog safety, training, and experience, drive community growth and employee retention. The General Manager will hire, train and manage dog trainers, dog walkers, dog bathers, and facility attendants.
The General Manager will utilize discretion and independent judgment in managing and directing the work of all employees.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to maintain unparalleled client service and dog safety while driving the sale of retail, daycare, pack walking, boarding, and private training.
- Demonstrate the ability to hire, onboard, train, lead, motivate and manage a team to hit operational, safety standards, behavioral dog training, and financial objectives.
- Display the ability to make optimal decisions on a daily basis and under pressure.
- Schedule and participate in events off and on site to drive community, connection and sales.
- Be results-driven with a focus on problem-solving, people development, driving innovation, and achieving measurable outcomes for Bark Collective’s success.
- Proficiency in Bark Collective training practices and standards, operational standards, financial reporting, employee and client scheduling.
- Review dog walker, facility attendant, operations team members, and dog trainer performance. Provide quarterly performance reviews and have regular performance conversations.
- Give and provide feedback to staff on a daily basis.
- Independently make decisions related to high level client service.
- Maintain and oversee cleanliness and organization of the facility, merchandise, and office.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all standard operating procedures and policies that pertain to Bark Collective.
- Create, communicate and implement Bark Collective policies and procedures to employees as needed.
- Ensure all retail merchandise, operational, administrative, dog and bathing supplies, as well as employee manuals are stocked and accessible.
- Strategically manage Bark Collective marketing through social media and grassroots efforts to foster the Bark Collective community and client experience.
- Oversee the maintenance of the facility and vehicles to meet company standards.
- Any other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A passion and love for dogs.
- 2+ years general management, preferably in the animal care industry.
- Previous people leadership and management experience required.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with company owners.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills in person, on the telephone and via email.
- Ability to excel in a fast changing, diverse environment.
- Ability to recognize areas of improvement and make changes using good judgment.
- Highly organized, proficient in data management (Ginger & G Suite experience is a plus).
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment.
- Professional, punctual, reliable and neat.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Trustworthy and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, clients and the general public.
- Veterinary experience is a plus!
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- This position offers a very competitive base salary; based on Experience & Performance
- $70,000 - $82,000 base salary

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A Minimum of 2 years prior managerial, operations, and leadership experience, and a basic understanding of canine behavior and corrective actions.
