Camp Description: Camp Jump-In Park Slope is an educational-based day camp in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. We offer a fun, supportive, and creative environment for counselors to provide excellent service; this is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about working with children or looking for an active job that lets them work outside having lots of fun in the sun. Our programming mixes unique games and activities from around the world with messy art projects, water play, performances, and much more!
Position Purpose: Camp Mentors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Mentor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, carrying out activities, and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Are you comfortable leading groups of kids on your own and working with and being accountable to a team?
- Do you have the stamina to keep up (literally) with 5 -13 yr. Olds bursting with energy and creative potential? And, if needed, can you bench press a kindergartener (or at least lift up to 30lbs)?
- Are you serious about having fun? Are you willing to work hard and let loose when the time calls?

Requirements:
- Completing all required in-person staff training, including, but not limited to, training related to safety and emergency procedures, camp philosophy, and content-specific information for assigned activities before the first day working at camp. Training time and requirements may vary by position, but all camp-specific training time will be paid for
- Being present and available for Move-in and Move-out weekends, directly before and after the camp opens/closes.
- Reporting and recording details of notable concerns or incidents and injuries to campers, other staff members, or self.
- Participating in all-camp events such as Kickoff, All-Camp Games, and Gameshow.
- Being a role model and mentor for respecting camp equipment and the camp environment by maintaining campus cleanliness and organization, as well as assisting with or owning logistical routines such as setting up lunch, taking out the trash/recycling, replenishing water coolers, keeping lost & found organized, etc.
- Managing transitions during the day and helping campers understand the camp schedule.
- Mediating conflicts between campers

Staff Requirements To work, all staff must meet the following requirements:
- In most states, the team must be 21 years old by their first day of work.
- Complete First Aid and CPR training before beginning work (staff is responsible for acquiring this training independently). Some locations or positions may require additional certifications or prior experience.
- Successful clearance of a background check related to working with minors.
- NY staff must provide at least two professional references for compliance.
- Experience working with children, strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are a plus for all positions and may be considered in hiring decisions.

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
