Avid is hiring RNs as Infusion Nurses to serve clients in their homes. The Infusion RN ensures patients receive the appropriate IV for the treatment ordered, selecting, and managing the appropriate equipment, maintaining arterial catheters, assessing the patient's response to intravenous therapy, and observing for potential drug complications.
**We are seeking PRN or Per Diem Infusion RNs for cases in the following areas/counties: Alamance, Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Nash, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson. **
RN Infusion Nurse
Responsibilities:
- Infuse medications on a regular basis in patients’ home setting, including monitoring and tracking vital signs, performing procedures such as IV placement, phlebotomy, and medication administration via peripheral infusion device.
- Coordinate and perform intravenous medication administration to patients in home setting.
- Must be knowledgeable in the IV administration of the following:
- Antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, including Amphotericin, Pentamidine, and the range of other infusion therapies.
- Chemotherapy.
- TPN.
- Pain management, ie. Morphine.
- Conduct a physical examination of the patient, including vital signs, physical assessment, mental status, appetite, and type of diet.
- Provide education to patients regarding their condition, medications, and expected outcomes of treatment.
- Chart services rendered to patients, changes noted in the patients’ condition and/or family and home situation and make revisions in nursing care plan as ordered.
- Maintain equipment used in infusions, including pumps, tubing, catheters, IV bags, bandages, and sterile solution containers.
- Communicate with physicians to obtain orders for medications, treatments, and tests.
- Appropriately communicates information relative to client care in accordance with agency policies.
- Observes the client’s general physical, emotional, and mental status, and reports all changes in the client’s conditions, family situation, incident, and occurrences during shift immediately to agency Clinical Manager/Field Nurse Supervisor or VP of Clinical and Compliance.
- Ensure all forms of communication with clients, families, and health plan providers are documented timely to promote continuity of care across all interdepartmental functions.
- Build relationships with clients to encourage compliance with care plans and client safety.
- Maintains accurate clinical and shift work documentations to update system in accordance with guidelines set forth by the agency in a comprehensive and timely manner.
- Manage client/contract satisfaction with the highest level of customer service standards, communication, and documentation.
- Adheres to infection control policies and exposure control plan as mandated.
- Monitor and maintain clinical report, including Infection and Occurrence/Complaint Reports.
- Adheres to and promotes safety and injury prevention measures in client and workplace settings.
- Maintain and improve skills through attendance with staff development programs and in-service education requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality in all professional areas and consider the needs of clients and their families, other employees, physicians, visitors, and all members of the community in an informative, courteous, and compassionate manner.
- Ensure all HIPAA regulations are adhered to.
- Follow Agency Policies and Procedures
- All other duties as assigned.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Active, Unencumbered Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina (NCBON)
- CPR Certification
- Infusion Nurse certification (CRNI), preferred.
- Travel is required for business purposes, must have a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance coverage.
Other Skills/Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year of home care experience, home health care, or hospice, preferred.
- Must be customer service oriented and prepared to liaise with clients, their families and other care providers.
- Confident working independently.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to embrace technology/utilize computerized systems.
- Bilingual, preferred, but not required.
