Baker University seeks qualified applicants to fill an Academic Success Coach position.
The Academic Success Coach in the Student Academic Success (SAS) center supports students from matriculation through graduation by conducting proactive, data-informed outreach for navigating social, academic and administrative aspects of the college environment. The focus is connecting individually with students, connecting students with their peers, interest groups and identity cohorts, and connecting students with professors and campus resources. This position bridges academic and co-curricular boundaries to develop students’ skills, knowledge and mindsets to enhance their academic, personal, and professional success.
A Master’s degree is strongly preferred in academic advising, education, counseling, social work, student affairs, psychology, or related field. Knowledge of ADA regulations related to provision of accommodations to students with learning disabilities preferred. The successful candidate will have knowledge of academic advising techniques and best practices. Intercultural competency and ability to work well with a wide variety of constituents, including faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, as well as those with physical, learning and emotional differences is also required. The Academic Success Coach will also possess skills and abilities in conflict management and interpersonal communication, ability to work with minimum supervision, organizational and time management skills, strong written communication skills and the ability to direct and supervise the activities of others.
