OVERVIEW
- The School Nurse is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations related to the health care services of Bryan's House and its clients in accordance with agency policy and all applicable state and local licensing and/or other standards.
- Is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing healthcare programs and services at Bryan's House.
- Provides quality nursing and nurturing care for the children at Bryan’s House in a manner that meets their emotional, social, and physical needs, and supports their cognitive development.
- Ensures that care delivery aligns with the highest quality of care: Understands key quality and safety improvement measures.
- Maintains all administrative aspects of health care services for the agency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the intake and enrollment process of children into the ECE program.
- Assists in determining children’s eligibility for services by providing clinical assessments as needed.
- Orientate families to the nursing program and inform them of policies at intake.
- Develops a nursing chart for every child at enrollment and ensures that medical records are updated with recent documents.
- Supervises daily activities pertaining to health care in the facility.
- Monitors the health and well-being of the children enrolled in the ECE program and promotes optimal wellness.
- Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies, procedures, and standards and necessary.
- Administers and oversees the administration of medication, treatments and procedures as prescribed by the children’s health providers and maintains record of medications dispensed and treatments performed.
- Assesses children’s physical, psychological, and social needs, developing care plans as necessary to coordinate services and resources.
- Monitors the implementation and progress of care plans by providing education and support to teachers and families as required.
- Initiates and assists with the clinical assessments of children in care or under consideration for enrollment.
- Consults with Program Director on matters that pertain to children’s health and makes recommendations based on clinical assessments.
- Contacts and schedules consultations with parents regarding health matters involving their children as needed.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
- Conducts in-service training for Bryan’s House staff and volunteers on various health and infection control issues, including, but not limited to, standard precautions and updated information to prevent the spread of deceases among high-risk populations.
- Educates parents on healthcare matters the affect their children.
- Provides ongoing education and training for teaching staff on the care of children with special healthcare needs.
- Supervises activities of nursing students.
- Attends meetings, both internal and external, to ensure continuity of information to and from Bryan’s House concerning the care of children with special healthcare needs.
- Develops and distributes quarterly newsletters informing Bryan’s House families of current healthcare trends and concerns.
- Tracks staff CPR expiration deadlines and schedules renewal trainings accordingly.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Assists program director by monitoring unplanned absences of children in care and contacting parents if there is no call or no show for two consecutive days.
- Documents and informs staff of the status of children’s absenteeism.
- Initiates and assists in obtaining required medical forms for children’s records as required for enrollments and annual updates.
- Ensures that special healthcare instructions for children’s care from parents and prescribed by doctors are followed.
- Assists teachers with children requiring immediate healthcare attention.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $29.77 - $32.50 per hour
