Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the annual budget.
- Monitor budget performance and provide regular financial reports.
- Conduct financial analysis and engage in strategic forecasting.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audit processes.
- Allocate resources effectively to align with educational goals.
- Identify and secure additional funding opportunities, including grant writing.
- Manage district investments and optimize revenue streams.
- Handle payroll processing, including tax deposits and reporting.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and 1099 forms.
- Oversee Federal and state grant reporting.
- Fulfill human resources responsibilities, including HR state reporting.
- Manage CDE40 reporting (Colorado Department of Education specific reporting).
- Communicate financial matters effectively with the school board, staff, and community.
- Build and maintain relationships with financial agencies and stakeholders.
- Lead and provide guidance to the finance department staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA) or CPA preferred.
- Extensive experience in financial management, with experience in Colorado public education finance.
- Profound understanding of governmental accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Expertise in budget development, financial planning, and analysis.
- Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Leadership abilities and experience in managing teams.
- Familiarity with Colorado's educational funding structures and reporting requirements.
- Must pass a Background and Criminal Justice Fingerprint Check.
