The part-time Career Development and Tracking Officer will provide career support to participants and alumni of the Art Craft NYC summer program hosted at Pace University.
Art Craft NYC is a new hands-on training program for those interested in joining the art department of the film industry. Participants will learn the basics of Production Design, Art Direction, Set Decoration, Props, and how to collaborate with the many department heads of a film crew. Through field trips, lectures, and project-based group work, the course focuses on practical skills, preparing participants for the workplace regardless of their prior experience or education level.
Position Duties

Provide general career guidance and support to program participants within the art department training program.

Per participant request, conduct one-on-one consultations to assist participants in resume building, portfolio presentation, and interview preparation tailored to the film industry.

Deliver two lectures during the program, one on how to make a resume and the other on tips for public speaking and presenting your work.

Foster relationships with industry professionals, alumni, and relevant organizations to facilitate networking and internship/job placement opportunities.

Implement and maintain a tracking system to monitor the career progression of program participants, including tracking job placements and other relevant career milestones.

Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements for career services offerings based on participant feedback and industry best practices.

Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Film, Theater, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

At least three years of relevant film industry experience in the art department. Experience working on union projects (Local 829/Local 800) preferred.

Strong understanding of the film industry, particularly the art department, including current trends, job roles, and industry practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback and support to individuals at various stages of their career development.
Work Hours
Exact hours to be determined with supervisor; typically between 15-30 hours per week from May 1st through Nov. 30th. There is a possibility for the grant to be renewed and the position extended with increased hours and wages.
