Duties/ Responsibilities:
· Travel to multiple office locations required; Primary office is in Castle Shannon with travel to Greensburg, PA and Warrendale, PA a few times per month.
· Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
· Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
· Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; drawing blood; removing sutures and/or staples; changing dressings.
· Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions.
· Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results via patient's electronic medical record.
· Creates patient orders and restriction letters under physician instruction. i.e. physical therapy prescriptions, MRIs, CT scans, Bone Scans, EMGs, blood work, and/or work restriction letters.
· Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
· Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
· Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Identify patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patient to better understand service requirements.
· Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment using models and information available; answering questions.
· Assist in physical exams and assist physician in treatment of injured patients by giving injections, changing dressings, or removing sutures and/or staples under the physician's direction.
· Prepare patients for exams by loading medical imaging CDs onto physician computer for review prior to exam. i.e. X-ray imaging, MRI’s, bone scans, and/or CT scans.
· Coordinates surgical intakes by recording and coding procedure information; communicating with surgical facilities; collecting and reviewing pre-surgical testing and clearances; communicating pre-surgical requirements to the patients.
· Size and fit patients appropriately with durable medical equipment that is ordered by the physician. Provide patients with proper care instructions.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
· Review patient reason for visit: pull up radiological studies; prepare exam room for visit i.e. preparing injections and aspirations.
· Perform patient blood draws for in office Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) procedures.
· In office clerical work on physician surgical days (at least twice a week).
· Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling patient appointments and managing patient electronic medical records.
· May have to submit and obtain prior authorizations for diagnostic testing and medications through multiple insurance companies by phone and/or online portals.

Skills/ Qualifications:
*Clinical Skills, creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Hospital Environment, Procedural Skills, Documentation Skills, Verbal Communication, Planning, Dependability, Medical Teamwork, computer skills, typing skills, and EMR experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
· Repetitive bending, stooping, or kneeling to acquire exam positions.
· Assist in transferring patients to and from exam table as needed.
· Ability to properly move a minimum of 50 lbs. with ease.
· Travel to the Greensburg, PA and Warrendale, PA office required at least two times per week (monetary incentive will be provided for traveling).

Qualifications:
· Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant Program.
· Minimum of two years professional experience in a hospital or other outpatient setting.
· Phlebotomy Certified for blood draws.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Experience:
- EMR systems: 3 years (Preferred)
- Experience working in a fast-paced work environment (Preferred)
- Experience submitting and obtaining prior authorizations for diagnostic testing and medications through insurance companies via phone and/or online portals.
- Phlebotomy blood draws (Required)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Required)
- Medical Assistant Program Certificate of Completion (Required)
