JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Credentials – Valid TN Occupational therapy license
· Candidates will report to Lead Occupational therapist of FSPT to ensure the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program.
· Candidates will collaborate with Director of Special Education as needed to ensure the IEP process is followed, updated, and implemented according to Dept of Education directives.
· Candidates will assist OTR, school personal, and students in developing effective educational programs to include assessments, consultation, and evaluative roles in the school setting.
· Essential Duties & Responsibilities – the following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
-Evaluates the student’s ability and formulates the student’s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.
-Interprets evaluation results and creates a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and weaknesses that impedes student participation in the educational environment, directs program development, and creates individual education plans and intervention to achieve IEP goals.
-Consults with school-based team to achieve student outcomes, adapts, modifies the environment to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
-Educates student, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.
-Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue services.
-Creates and prioritizes and schedules occupational therapy services/consult in compliance with each IEP, completes work tasks independently
-Documents occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate, maintain & complete daily logs/records to be reviewed and signed by school personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures, professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
-OTRs will provide legal and ethical supervision of occupational therapy assistant assuming responsibility for students served by the assistant.
-Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions such as in interpreting policies, decisions and procedures. Must be adaptable to performing under stress, must be adaptable to changes in schedules/closures/caseload numbers.
-Engages in effective/timely communication via email, text, phone, in person in a concise, clear, and effective manner.
-Exhibit strong organizational, management, interpersonal, and technical skills.
-Uses sound independent judgement and discretion in daily activities to ensure the relationship between company and school administration.
-Provide own transportation to schools providing occupational therapy services.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
