HOST / HOSTESS:
The Host / Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, and escorting guests to their table. Communicating with all guests and potential guests in a friendly and courteous manner. Host / Hostess should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure Casa Rio guests have a positive dining experience.
Job Description:
- Welcome guest to the restaurant.
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists.
- Manage private dining.
- Escort customers to assigned dining areas.
- Provide menus and announce Server name.
- Greet customers upon their departure.
- Coordinate with servers about available seating options.
- Maintain clean all reception areas.
- Cater to guest who require extra attention (e.g., children, elderly, disabled).
- Seat guests as efficiently as possible to facilitate good customer flow and reduce crowding.
- Help maintain the quality standards of the facilities and the service.
- Complete any reasonable job-related tasks as directed by Host department Manager.
Requirements and Skills:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Prior customer service experience in the hospitality industry.
- Positive attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Does high-quality work while unsupervised.
- Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food when necessary.
- Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
- Able to work in a busy restaurant environment.
- Hospitality certification is a plus.
- Previous work experience as a Host/Hostess.
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
- Experience in managing waiting list.
- Demonstrable customer-service skills.
- Excellent communication skills (via radio and in-person).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining areas.
- Availability to work in shifts as needed.
- Good physical condition to be able to walk and stand during an entire shift.
- Perform more than one task at a time.
- Follow Management and leadership instructions.
- Report to work in a complete required uniform.
- Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona that reflects the image of the restaurant.
- Meet personal schedule requirements punctually.
- Be courteous, friendly, and have a pleasant demeanor.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry and wipe.
- Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Casa Rio policies and procedures.
