Position Summary The Senior Manager of Strategy and Growth Initiatives will play a critical role in shaping and executing AutoNation’s strategic growth agenda. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategy and Growth, this role involves leading high-impact projects, evaluating M&A opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, program managing major operating model changes, and supporting the growth of new business ventures. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and strong leadership skills to support AutoNation’s continued growth and innovation in the automotive retail industry.
Organizational Relationships:
Directly reports to the V.P. of Strategy and Growth with interaction across Executive leadership, Board of Directors, Investor Relations, Operations Leadership, Public Relations, Finance and M&A teams, and business stakeholders.
About the Strategy and Growth Initiatives Team
The Strategy and Growth Initiatives team is dedicated to defining and implementing strategic growth projects across AutoNation. This involves evaluating mergers and acquisitions, building partnerships with new OEMs and technology providers, and integrating strategic vendors into our core business. The team supports the development of new business ventures such as Parts, Mobile Service, Fleet Management, and Mobility. Additionally, we pilot new concepts and scale successful initiatives across our network, partnering with the executive committee to manage cross-functional projects that drive significant business impact. Our team is composed of strategists, builders, and operators who work collaboratively to achieve quick and efficient results.
Lead the identification, and evaluation of M&A opportunities both within and outside the core business.
Develop and structure strategic partnerships with new OEMs, technology providers, and marketplaces.
Support the creation, growth, and scaling of new business ventures.
Pilot and scale new concepts and revenue streams across AutoNation’s network – often through the implementation of specific technologies integrated into our store operations.
Collaborate with the executive committee and operational leaders to program manage high-impact, cross-functional projects such as major operating model re-designs.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
Develop financial models and business cases to support strategic initiatives.
Communicate strategy and project updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Support the preparation of select materials such as Board updates, competitive benchmarking, and industry intelligence.
Background in consulting, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital preferred.
Experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results.
Experience with technology and innovation in a business context is advantageous.
MBA or other advanced degree preferred but not required.
Must be willing to relocated to Ft. Lauderdale
