Job Description
1. Review project architectural plans, specific to the woodworking scope of the project. Projects types include:
- Commercial projects such as: hospitals, sports arenas, universities, courthouses, churches, schools.
- Commercial typical products include: Nurse stations, reception desks, built-ins, wall paneling, commercial cabinets and countertops, judges benches, jury box, lockers, church furniture, door and door frames, moulding such as baseboard, chair rail, crown, casings.
- Luxury residential work throughout U.S;
- Luxury residential typical products include: high end custom kitchens, wall paneling, wainscot, beams and ceiling, built-ins, face frame cabinets, residential furniture, door and door frames construction, wine cabinets, desks, moulding such as baseboard, chair rail, crown, casings.
2. Develop Detailed Shop Drawings:
- Using the architectural prints as a baseline for design
- Produce detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD and/or other Cad/Cam software. Drawings to include woodworking materials, joinery and sections outlining intent to build
3. After architect's approval, assist in releasing the project to the shop floor in the following manner
- Updating drawings after field dimensions taken
- Provide detailed bill of materials, cut bills, optimization and custom cad/cam software for cnc nesting programs
4. Coordinate with purchasing department to assist with knowledge of specialty materials required for project
5. Coordinate with shop personnel on:
- General build item overview, materials and finishes used. Special highlighted areas. Quality expectations.
- Answer any questions during building process
- Solve any material or design issues during building process
6. Coordinate with installers on project. Answer any questions
Project Management Experience a bonus. Experience to include:
- Develop a project schedule. Using construction schedule as base line, develop reverse schedule for time lines and milestones. Track project progress to ensure on time delivery.
- Customer updates and project meetings
Knowledge or experience required:
- Architectural blueprint reading
- Woodworking materials such as: Veneer, specialty hardwood solid lumber, high pressure laminate (HPL), solid surface. Knowledge of specialty glass and metals would be beneficial, but not required
- Woodworking custom building knowledge for : kitchens, wall paneling, wainscot, beams and ceiling, nurse stations, reception desks, built-ins and face frame cabinets, door and door frames construction, judges benches, jury box, lockers, wine cabinets, desks, moulding such as baseboard, chair rail, crown, casings.
- General woodworking joinery knowledge
- Specialty woodworking joinery knowledge considered a plus. Such as: Dovetail, blind dado, rabbet, dowel, mortise and tenon, pocket screw
- Cabinet and door hardware (functional and decorative hardware) knowledge. Such as: Hinges, drawer slides, door hardware, cabinet pulls and knobs, general door hardware, general cabinet hardware. Experienced on hardware required reveals.
- General knowledge of jobsite for; field dimensioning, field joint requirements, installation process
- Drafting knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Cad/Cam software. Ability to illustrate design and building intent using several drafting views such as; front, plan, vertical section and horizontal sectioning
- Any woodworking cad/cam software experience such as Cabinetvision or Microvellum considered a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
