Beach Cities Gateway – Adult Life Skills (located in the South Bay LA)is dedicated to empowering young adults to achieve their full potential through personalized coaching, mentoring, support and mental health treatment. We specialize in helping individuals develop essential skills to succeed in their personal, academic, and professional lives.We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate associate mental health therapist to join our team, emphasizing executive functioning challenges and/or mental health issues in young adults. The ideal candidate will have a background in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. They will be part of team of academic and life coaches with emphasis in helping young adults develop and enhance their life, college and career skills. This role involves assessing individual needs, creating tailored intervention plans, and providing therapy to improve organizational, planning, time management, and problem-solving abilities. They will assist with goal setting to help clients realize their dreams and make positive lifestyle changes that benefit their overall health and well-being.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate mental health and executive functioning skills in young adults.
- Identify strengths and areas of improvement through interviews, observations, and standardized assessment tools.
- Develop personalized intervention plans based on assessment results.
- Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for each client.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques to enhance mental health and executive functioning skills.
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions focused on skills such as emotional regulation, time management, organization, planning, and goal setting.
- Use cognitive-behavioral strategies, and other relevant methods.
- Regularly monitor and document clients’ progress towards their goals.
- Adjust intervention plans as needed based on ongoing evaluation and feedback.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, educators, coaches and family members to support the client’s development.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders about progress and any adjustments to the intervention plan.
- Provide education and resources to clients and their families about executive functioning skills and strategies.
Therapist Requirements:
- Meet with the treatment team of academic and life coaches, and other health and mental health providers to ensure the young adult client is making progress on all goals.
- Communicate with parents at regular intervals.
- Provide Clinical documentation, utilizing CRM and EMR.
- Have a clean DMV record.
- Be physically capable of lifting and carrying 20-30 lbs., including groceries, bicycles, kayak, paddle boards, day packs, etc.
- Able to participate in/facilitate therapeutic experiential activities, including hiking, bike riding, paddle boarding, kayaking, grocery shopping, gardening, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with computer programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM and EMR.
- Capable of working within a collaborative interdisciplinary team to support client goals.
- Capable of providing written and verbal updates to stakeholders, including family and referral source.
- Experience with State of CA HS transcript review and assessment, academic counseling, HS graduation requirements, college placement and understanding of academic support services
