Our K-8 platforms include Miacademy, Always Ice Cream, and Clever Dragons, and our 9-12 options include MiaPrep and MiaPrep Online High School. Our student base is rapidly growing, and we’re hiring for multiple positions across several departments! Our expansion stems from our commitment to providing exceptional educational content and our pursuit of new opportunities.
You can hear our CEO, Johannes Ziegler, discuss our company’s values and future!
How you’ll make an impact:
MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS), our online private high school using our virtual curriculum from www.miaprep.com, was formed in August 2022, and accredited as an online private high school for grades 9-12 in June 2023. Our ability to work with the curriculum development team, as well as the software development team, provides a unique opportunity to create a superior learning experience for students.
It’s an exciting time to join MOHS - the first year’s cohort consisted of 80 students, and the second year consisted of 320! Miaplaza’s leadership intends to maintain a high year-over-year growth rate for the foreseeable future with the goal of reaching more than 10,000 students within the next 5-10 years.
We are currently seeking a passionate and resourceful High School Spanish Teacher who will also serve as an Academic Advisor to a caseload of ~30 students. The ideal candidate will excel in providing virtual instruction, targeted and student-friendly feedback, and academic guidance and support. This individual will also have a gift for building rapport with students virtually and will contribute positively to our school community and culture.
What you’ll do:
- Grading and Feedback: Efficiently evaluate students' Spanish assignments, providing comprehensive feedback to aid their learning and development.
- Office Hours: Host weekly virtual office hours several times per week to clarify curriculum concepts, address questions, and offer additional support for Spanish topics and assignments.
- Academic Advising: Maintain a caseload of students for whom you will provide academic advising, including quarterly check-ins, and in some cases, targeted support plans.
- Tiered Support: Identify struggling students and, together with the Student Support Specialist and Academic Counselors, proactively provide tiered support solutions to enhance their academic performance.
- Parental and Student Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for both parents and students in academic matters in your subject area, ensuring a constructive channel of communication.
- School Community Engagement: Actively participate in school initiatives and contribute to the creation and implementation of school-wide academic policies. Lead or contribute to an extracurricular club or activity that aligns with your expertise or passion.
- Positive Culture Building: Uphold and contribute to our school's positive culture and values, both among the faculty and the student body.
- Ownership: Be willing to speak up when things can be improved, and willing to step up when a need is identified or support is needed within the school community.
You may be a good fit if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Secondary Education, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of full-time secondary teaching experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Tech-savvy with an ability to learn new platforms quickly, such as gradebooks, Google Classroom, curriculum platforms, and Google Suite.
- Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) responsibly using AI tools to increase efficiency in the education sector.
What makes you stand out:
- You have an active teaching certification in Secondary Education.
- You have experience analyzing and transforming data into actionable goals that have positively impacted your students.
- You have experience with screencasting software or online instruction.
- Your own unique talents! Your background has given you a unique perspective and set of skills that might not be listed here but may still be transferable to this role. If you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications outlined above, we still strongly encourage you to apply.
What you’ll love about working at Miaplaza:
- You’ll be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to innovative education solutions for children who learn in diverse ways.
- Our 100% remote team can work from any productive location within or outside the U.S. (no travel required!)

Schedule:
- MOHS Teachers are expected to have 30-40 hours of availability each week on a year-round basis. This range of hours is designed to offer flexibility in your schedule, and there is ample work available! We consider anything over 30 hours a week to be full-time, so you would be eligible for all of our benefits!
- What your schedule looks like is largely up to you! Scheduling office hours will require coordination with other teachers, but outside of that, as long as you are meeting your goals and deadlines and are available for weekly meetings with your supervisor and peers (generally during US business hours), we support the hours that work best for you.
