Payment Poster (Healthcare)
Position Description Payment Posters are responsible for the expedient and accurate posting of payments received.
Responsibilities:
- Payment Entry-Records all transactions from paper EOB's and/or Electronic Remits
- Completes payment entry in a timely and accurate manner
- Post payment transactions to practice management system
- Records batch totals
- Balances batches and runs transaction reports
- Verifies all EFT deposits
- Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the practice management system and to appropriate billing representative in a timely manner
- Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the Billing Supervisor
- Department Coverage
- Cross trained to provide department coverage in charge entry and accounts receivables
- Maintains professional knowledge regarding medical billing and coding procedures, insurance carriers, federal programs, etc.
Minimum Requirements (Required):
- 2+ years of relevant medical billing experience
- 1+ year of medical payment posting
- Candidates must be able to work with high volume of work while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Critical Skills (Required):
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent Communication (Verbal & Written) Skills
- Experience with multiple Practice Management systems
Additional Knowledge and Skills (Preferred / Not Required):
- Data entry skills
- Strong work ethics and confidentiality
- Time management skills and attention to detail
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
