JOB STATEMENT
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive ambulatory nursing care as directed by physician(s) and/or nurse practitioner(s), including patient and family assessment, intervention, and education.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs Triage by thorough evaluation and sound nursing assessments of patient symptoms.
- Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Consults with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and/or evaluate patient needs.
- Prepares and dispenses medication orally or by injection under the supervision of medical provider.
- Translates for patients and physicians as needed to help communicate pertinent information.
- Provides patients with health education and counseling.
- Coordinates mass patient and staff health screenings.
- Maintains accurate and detailed medical records.
- Performs point of care testing as needed.
- Effectively uses pertinent medical instruments in the performance of duties (e.g. electrocardiograms “EKGs”, spirometry, and ear irrigations).
- Participates in maintaining quality assurance goals.
- Plans and implements staff development and training presentations.
- Trains and verifies competencies of healthcare personnel.
- Performs other tasks as required by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing
- Specialized Training/Certifications/Licenses:
- Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Texas
- Current Health Care Provider CPR Certification.
- Experience:
- Prior Nursing experience (preferred)
- Knowledge:
- Community Health Nursing (preferred)
- Bilingual Spanish a plus

- Abilities:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to stand/walk for majority of the shift.
- Must be able to bend or stoop.
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs. unassisted
- Must be able to physically assist patients that may be in physical distress, fainting/falling or provide general assistance if mobility of patient is impaired.
- Must have good vision (e.g. near acuity and depth perception)
- Other:
- Must be able to periodically work on Saturdays.
- May require some local travel between different clinic locations.
- Must be able to maintain required immunizations as required by the organization.
