Summary Description:
The Graphic Designer TCG – Japanese works with the Senior Graphic Designer, Card Production artist, and Creative Marketing Manager to localize all product SKUs, cards, and marketing materials for the Japan market. The Graphic Designer must not only place localized text copy but also adapt the look and feel of each unique set identity to be correct and culturally appropriate. The Graphic Designer works closely with the Project Manager to prepare and check final print files and deliver them to the factory, and works with the Senior Graphic Designer, Card Production artist, and Creative Marketing Manager to approve final print files for production.
Hours + Salary Range: Full Time, salaried position + annual bonus ($30 - $40/hour, DOE)
Location: Hybrid position located in the Seattle, Washington office with 3 days/week in-office minimum
Reports to: Senior Graphic Designer
Manages: No direct reports
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
· Adaptation and localization of packaging and visual development, branding, and logo design for all SKUs
- Card development and typesetting: take handoff of English card files and produce typeset localized Japanese cards via automation and manual touchups
· Adaptation and localization of marketing materials for digital and print
- Set up spot plates for white under printing, foil printing, or other special print treatments on cards or packaging
· Coordinating with global Localization Teams and local Creative Team to facilitate file handoff and a smooth localization workflow
· Setup and review files, ensuring that they meet print quality standards and proofing production files for print
· Participate in regular Creative meetings with other stakeholders
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Strong skills with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
· Strong print production skills, working with overprinting and setting up press-ready PDFs
· Knowledge of automation
· Strong typesetting skills, including ability to adapt effects achieved via Roman fonts into Japanese fonts
· Familiarity with Localization processes
· Familiarity with complex printing techniques such as white underprints, spot foils, etc.
· Detail-oriented and can self-manage the moving parts of an evolving creative pipeline.
· Ability to meet tight deadlines and inspire others to do the same
· Finds solutions to creative challenges
· Collaborative and active team player
· Current knowledge of Japan regional marketing/communication best practices
· Must be fluent in English (speaking and writing)
· Must be a native speaker of Japanese and able to work seamlessly in native Japanese language for print and digital products
Experience:
· 2+ years in professional graphic design
· Experience in trading cards or collectible cards product and industry.
