Our organization is in need of an experienced Outreach Specialist to join our team. Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of proactive experience in public relations, high-level customer service, presentations, writing
- Experience or familiarity with the transportation industry, media outlets and Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties desirable.
Required knowledge and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or actively seeking
- Excellent independent writing skills and advanced oral communication skills: public speaking/interview experience a plus
- Solid technical skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is a must. Knowledge of or willingness to learn design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Dreamweaver) a plus.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with new and repeat clients from entry level to higher-level management
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Self-directed and able to move project issues forward to resolution and work well independently with limited managerial oversight
- Must be able to proactively diagnose and resolve project issues as they arise
- Must understand the attitudes and concerns of our clients and continuously earn trust through high-level customer service and integrity
- Must be able to build rapport and provide high-level communication with clients and be able to work with strong/varying personalities.
- Ability to work under deadlines
- Must have a magnified sense of curiosity and understand & recognize a sense of urgency
- Become a resource for clients and the public
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, legal display advertisements, and handouts/letters/flyers to convey information
- Study and evaluate transportation and infrastructure projects and their impacts and convey them to the public
- Organize public information workshops/meetings and consensus building meetings to educate the public, solicit and record public comment and opinion on projects, and address specific concerns
- Conduct minority outreach programs to ensure all members of communities are educated and involved in the project
- Make public presentations and represent our company and project teams to a variety of audiences including neighborhood groups, local governments; i.e., city/town councils, county commissioners and public hearings
- Act as a liaison between engineers/contractors/ agencies and the public to develop recommendations regarding proposed transportation and infrastructure projects in an effort to build consensus
- Create Technical Memorandums of public meetings and comments made which become part of public record and are distributed to local government officials
- Requires some after-hours meetings and as-needed phone calls

Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
