West & West, LLP is seeking a Paralegal to become a part of our team providing direct support to one attorney. We need an ambitious and outgoing paralegal with at least 1.5 years of personal injury experience, from intake, to speaking with clients, insurance adjusters and medical providers, to trial, if necessary. Applicant must be extremely organized, dependable and conscientious and will be working in our Pasadena, Texas office. Applicant must have strong legal and personal ethics. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining attorney's calendar which includes entry of deadlines, appointments and court dates;
- Filing documents electronically with the court;
- Communicate with clients to help respond with discovery and other matters;
- Communicating with court personnel as needed;
- Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents;
- Scanning, copying, saving and/or filing all incoming and outgoing correspondence;
- Coordinating service of process;
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, etc.;
- Coordinating depositions and mediations;
- Assisting attorney with trial preparations including preparation of trial notebooks and attendance at trial if necessary;
- Meeting with clients as needed;
- Answering and/or screening telephone calls.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paralegal/legal assistant;
- Ability to prioritize and multitask;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Familiarity with basic court documents and procedures;
- Deadline and detail-oriented;
- Proficient in Microsoft products, Adobe Acrobat and internet skills;
- Ability to use Texas Efiling system and familiarity with court protocols;
- Familiar with legal management systems (we use MyCase);
- Friendly, patient and agreeable demeanor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
