Aspire Hospital is currently looking for a Registered Nurse on the Behavioral Health Unit & Medical Psychiatric Unit.
Responsibilities:
Our Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse(s), directs and guides patient teaching and activities that commensurate with his/her education and demonstrated competencies.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement.
- Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers.
- Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment.
- Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of Aspire Hospital.
- Answer patient’s questions after consultation with the provider or as per established procedures in that regard (i.e. health questions, medication refills, lab results, etc.)
- Perform phlebotomy and other related duties as requested
- Ensure medical Orders are followed, initiate and follow treatment planning
- Identifies health and safety risks
- Falls
- Suicide warnings
- Signs of self-harm
- Aggression
- Pain
- Reports abnormal EKG and Vital signs
- Elopement
- Detox
- RN Documentation
- Prepares oncoming shift assignment report
- RN Reassessments
- New Patient Admission
- Patient Discharge
- Patient Transfer( MOT)
- Completes 12 hours and 24- hour chart audits
- EMTALA
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure with the TX Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS Certification
- Psychiatric Nursing experience preferred but not required
- Med/Surge and/or Skilled Nursing Experience Preferred but not required
- CPI required within the 30 days of hire
- Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.
- Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
