Multiple Positions Available
- Provides mental health services to offenders including crisis intervention, screening, psychological assessment and evaluation (psychological test administration, scoring, interpretation and report writing), psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under the supervision and direction of the Psychologist/Psychology Associate Senior.
- Screens, tracks and monitors offenders with mental health services needs in intake, general population, and special housing.
- Involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of mental health services, policies and programs at the facility.
- May be involved with special units or programs.
- Serves as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff.
- Provides in-service training.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders and the ability to develop intervention and treatment plans and to provide individual and group counseling or therapy.
- Demonstrated experience providing counseling
- Demonstrated ability to complete psychological assessments
- Demonstrated ability to develop intervention and treatment plans.
- Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling or therapy.
- Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices.
- Demonstrated ability to provide training.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations:
- Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health supporting the ability to fulfill the required tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia.
- Relevant professional experience under supervision to include demonstrated skills in psychological assessment including diagnostic interviewing, intelligence and personality testing and interpretation and report writing.
- Ability to fulfill professional tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia (QMHP Certification or eligibility)
