Job Overview:
The job of the Host is to greet guests with a warm, friendly “Welcome to (restaurant)” and a smile. The first welcome is the first impression, and it is vital that hosts are outgoing, vivacious, warm, and friendly. In addition, they are expected to help with any table setting needs, including clearing, re-setting, and water service.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for offering warm, caring, and friendly hospitality and attentive and technically proficient service to all guests. Responsible for being the guests advocate throughout their restaurant experience.
- Responsible for treating all co-workers in a caring, gracious, and hospitable manner.
- Responsible for communicating openly and thoroughly with supervisors, and for bringing all guests’ concerns to supervisor’s attention immediately.
- Responsible for clearly communicating schedule requests, for obtaining proper approval for all shift changes, and for being in uniform and ready to work at the scheduled time.
- Hosts are responsible for being the Tour Guides of DUNE by LT, and must have thorough knowledge of, and be able to describe the DUNE accurately and attractively by LT Concept.
- Greets guests with a warm, friendly “Welcome to (restaurant)” and a smile. The first welcome is the first impression, and it is vital that hosts are outgoing, vivacious, warm, and friendly. The host must “grab” the guest with their welcome the minute the guest walks in the door and be sure to say “Thank you for coming. Come back and see us again soon” when guests are leaving.
- Graciously greets guests upon their arrival and escorts them to a table, balancing the customer flow among the service stations, considering requests for a particular table or server, depending on availability.
- Hosts should pull out the tables and chairs for the guests as much as possible (at least for the first guest in the party), and graciously and patiently help them into their seats.
- Checks the dining room to make sure all tables are set with the proper number of settings. Continuously checks reservations sheet throughout the evening, for any new reservations that come in.
- Assists with the duties of servers and bussers, such as securing a food or beverage item for a patron, resetting a table for reuse, refilling water, as the customer traffic flow allows, to ensure the maintenance of food service effectiveness and efficiency.
- Checks table settings for proper presentation and completeness, and checks service tray stations for adequacy of supplies used for refill or replacement purposes.
- If a table is not immediately available, host apologizes, lets guests know how long it will be for their table, place them on the waiting list, and welcome the guest into the bar area. Hosts keep track of parties waiting for tables without having to ask their name a second time. A brief description written in the reservation’s notes (nothing negative) is helpful in keeping track of guests waiting on a busy night.
- If escorting a guest to a table from the bar, hosts must always offer to carry the guest’s drinks from the bar to the table for them, always using a tray. Expresses best wishes that the guests enjoy their meal and returns to the host stand.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or further educational certification or degree.
- Sufficient exposure, generally a minimum of two years in a similar type of foodservice establishment.
- Prior experience in hospitality.
- Flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication skills.
- Comfort in a high-paced/high-volume environment.
- Solid work ethic.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, and reach with little to no accommodations needed for possible extended periods of time.
- Able to carry/hold more than 10 lbs.
