ATHLETIC COACH
REPORTS TO
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for helping each student participating in sports achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem and awareness of the importance of teamwork in attaining common goals (Assistant Coach/Contracted Coach).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coaches or assists the Coach with individual participants and the sports team.

Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in-season, including preparation/overseeing practice schedules and scrimmage sessions.

Encourages and makes provisions for off-season training.

Checks and requests updating of equipment and uniforms as appropriate.

Records, files, and reports all insurance claims, physical, and sports medical forms for all current athletes.

Monitors safety conditions of the practice/game field areas.

Establishes performance and behavior criteria for eligibility in the sport.

Always enforces discipline and sportsmanship behavior and establishes/oversees penalties for breaking each standard.

Attends clinics and seminars to improve coaching abilities.

Remain up to date with any rule changes in the sport.

Establish/maintain open lines of communication with participants, parents, administration, and other Coaches pertaining to academic, physical, and behavioral progress of all participants.

Maintains an inventory of sports equipment.

Performs computer, word processing, and videotaping duties for the athletics department.

Implements the emergency plan when an accident occurs.

Prepares equipment for transportation to away games (football, basketball, and wrestling).
Coach (Cheerleading)
- Full year workload, including summer practice.
Coach (Dance)
- The dance team performs at all home varsity football and basketball games.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, or Principal.

Demonstrate personal characteristics expected of all Warren County School District employees.

Demonstrate English proficiency in oral and writing English.

Complete required annual safety training as assigned by Warren County Schools and TSSAA (e.g., Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First Aid/AED/CPR Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Sexual Harassment, Youth Suicide, etc.).

Complete satisfactory background checks as required by the Tennessee State Department of Education, state law, and Warren County Schools Board policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Heavy lifting (approximately 60lbs.) occasionally (over 15% and up to 40% of the time). May be exposed to noise, temperature, and weather conditions as they apply to inside and outside sports. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
