JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Nursing (DON) for the Subacute unit is the unit DON with 24 hour responsibility for the nursing administrative and clinical management and provision of nursing care on the Subacute Unit. The DON for the Subacute Unit assists the Administrator with developing and implementing policies and procedures to deliver nursing services to meet Federal and State regulatory requirements and company policies. The DON is to ensure training and continuing education occurs to ensure competency of nursing staff. The DON is to provide direction and expertise in all areas of nursing services to ensure ongoing assessment and continuous quality improvement and maintenance programs and procedures are developed and maintained. The DON is a team leader and provides supervision to nursing staff through hiring, training, evaluation, staffing/assignment, and delegation of duties within budget and resident census guidelines. The DON acts as a patient advocate and as a resource to physicians, patients, families, inter-disciplinary staff, referral sources, and vendors. The DON for the Subacute Unit is responsible for ensuring completion, tracking, and reporting of required documentation and data
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clear and concise and current written policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors.
2. Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy forming conferences for patient care services. Maintain close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
3. Responsible for maintaining staffing compliance within regulatory requirement and budget consideration.
4. Develops, implements and maintains Customer Service and Quality Improvement Plans including employee, patients , visitors and physicians
5. Responsible for assessing educational and skill needs for staff in area of responsibility. Responsible for developing and executing plan to deliver appropriate and thorough training and education to staff.
6. Plans and prepares the Unit for the annual survey ensuring that regulatory standards are current and maintained. Maintains Unit “survey ready” at all
7. Plans and coordinates with Finance, utilizing the respective service managers for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, performance of work, supplies, and equipment.
8. Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Must have a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
2. BLS Provider Card upon hire and maintained current.
3. Minimum of 5 years of Acute Care experience.
4. Minimum of 2 years previous Administrative experience in Skilled Facility (subacute unit) preferred.
5. Masters Degree in Nursing preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
