Position Summary
The Clinical and Administrative Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with the care of patients under the direction of a provider, and also supporting Administrative Staff as needed. Medical Assistants must be able anticipate provider needs to facilitate the flow of clinic, and be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important are essential.

Essential Functions
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients, including procedure set up. While all MAs are responsible for preparing rooms, the early MA is responsible for ensuring all rooms are prepared and procedures set up for the specified block of time in the morning.
- Welcome patients by greeting them and prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit
- Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight and temperature; report patient history summary.
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results.
- Clean instruments and patient rooms after the visit completed. While all MAs are responsible for cleaning the rooms, the late MA is responsible for ensuring all instruments are clean and put away, and all rooms are clean at the end of the day.
- Type routine correspondence and reports from dictation or handwritten copy.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs.
- Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

- Complete chart preparation by reviewing last visit note, ensuring all outside orders (laboratory, imaging, etc.) are available, and determining if phlebotomy will be required prior to the visit.
- Provide support to administrative staff as needed. Administrative functions include answering telephones and greeting visitors; reviewing patients’ records for insurance issues such as eligibility and referral status, and authorization status for medications and procedures.

Position Qualifications
- Language Skills – The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Medical Assistants must be proficient in typing and good at spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication. Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion. Handwriting must be clear and legible.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Prepare and interpret charts and graphs. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply logic and draw conclusions based on knowledge. Ability to refer to reference materials to solve problems.
- Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to quickly learn and use all functions of electronic medical record software and transcription software. Must accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word in order to prepare correspondence, medical reports, and other documents. Must use Microsoft Excel to prepare flowcharts and organize data. Must use the internet to access schedules, research information, etc.
- Must be able to type words and numbers quickly and accurately; must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.

- A professional demeanor towards patients, industry partners and co-workers is expected at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
