Position Opening: Full-time Production Assistant
About AnimalBiome: Founded in 2016, AnimalBiome is an Oakland-based biotech company that utilizes cutting-edge microbiome technology to analyze and restore the gut health of cats and dogs. Imbalances in a pet’s gut microbiome can increase the risk of various health issues, including digestive, skin, and weight problems. At AnimalBiome, we employ dietary interventions and fecal transplants to restore microbiome balance in sick pets.
About the Position: We are seeking a Production Assistant at AnimalBiome to support day-to-day production operations, including assembling products, monitoring inventory, and assisting with general office tasks. Much of this work takes place in a laboratory setting, so candidates must follow all lab safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and comfort in a startup environment with shifting responsibilities are essential, along with the ability to problem-solve and self-teach as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble products for consumer shipments
- Monitor inventory of supplies for finished goods assembly
- Assist with general office tasks, such as organizing, labeling, moving, and package distribution
- Clean and wash equipment used in our fecal donor program in a laboratory setting
- Organize supplies for the office and donation unit
- Label finished goods
- Assist all teams with cardboard recycling needs
- Coordinate and manage the Oakland facility's needs related to deliveries, garbage, recycling, and supplies
- Assist with the preparation and cleaning of laboratory equipment and workspaces
- Handle basic materials and supplies needed for production
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure quality and safety
- Maintain accurate records of work performed
- Support the team with routine tasks such as labeling, packaging, and organizing materials
- Assist with inventory management and stock replenishment
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in our database
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment
Required Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Detail-oriented
- Flexible and able to work with multiple teams and shifting priorities
- Able to wear PPE as required in many spaces in our laboratories
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for an 8-hour shift
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and procedures
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with shifting responsibilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
