The Northwest Regional Planning Commission (NWRPC) was created in 1959 by local units of government of Northwest Wisconsin. It is the oldest planning commission in Wisconsin and one of the first multi-county planning commissions in the nation. The Commission is a cooperative venture of Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, and Washburn Counties and the tribal nations of Bad River, Red Cliff, Lac du Flambeau, Lac Courte Oreilles, and St. Croix.
NWRPC provides a variety of community and regional services focusing on economic, community and business development, transportation, land use, coastal and environmental resources.
Job Description: Business Development Specialist
Northwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (NWRPC) is currently accepting applications for the position of Business Development Specialist.
This position will be responsible for providing comprehensive business technical assistance services working directly with business clients throughout the region and within NWRPC’s Enterprise Center Network. The successful candidate will be working with state and federal sources such as the Small Business Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, and Economic Development Administration providing grant writing, reporting, and one-on-one business technical assistance. The successful candidate will administer and provide comprehensive technical assistance services to businesses through existing SBA and Rural Business Development Grant contracts. Candidates must be able to work with regional businesses offering potential loan deals, structure loan financial packages, and write loan reviews. This position works closely with business owners, area lenders, NWRPC’s Revolving Loan Fund Manager, and various boards in presenting potential loan requests. The position will have direct responsibility for management of NWRPC’s Enterprise Center Network, comprising 164,500 square feet of manufacturing space.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following areas: Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field of study. Three to five years of professional work experience is preferred. Relevant knowledge and experience in the public/private sector finance arena, to include, but not limited to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform Credit Analysis (UCA), and loan production experience with an emphasis on manufacturing lending is a plus. The successful candidate will have an office located in Spooner, Wisconsin.
