Core System Programmer
The Core Systems Programmer is responsible for coding, administering, and providing support for the Credit Union’s core operating systems (Symitar core, SymXchange, PowerFrame, and EASE).
What you will do…
- Analyze, define scope, program, QA test, and implement project requests providing support for the Credit Union’s core operating systems.
- Conduct code review, quality assurance testing, database maintenance, and troubleshooting for client-side applications, services, and systems.
- Manage department projects and assist with gathering the project requirements, and attend meetings to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Develop software documentation to clearly articulate the purpose and provide instructions on how to use the program.
- Provide technical support to associates and vendors to quickly solve hardware, software, and network-related issues, to include system crashes.
- Configure, and maintain the Credit Union’s core financial processing system.
- Asist with testing and implementing upgrades for the core applications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for system issues occurring during processing, including those reported by users.
- Document system limitations and recommend solutions to implement corrective measures.
- Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies for enhancements.
- Design, build, test, and maintain job programs, plans, and schedules for the core financial processing system.
- Serves as a technical resource to associates and vendors.
- Maintain and modify core applications using HTML, Power ON, JavaScript and another programming languages to meet system changes and Credit Union specifications.
- Troubleshoot existing code to minimize user downtime and maximize service.
- Develop software programs utilizing core programming language to accommodate requests by business units such as automated workflows, postings, reports, and on-demand business processes.
- Develop and maintain system form letters including PowerFrame Docs.
- Develop software documentation to clearly articulate the purpose and provide instructions on how to use the program.
- Mentor and instruct other members of the Core Services Team regarding the architecture and development of host processes.
- Establish internal controls necessary to safeguard information stored within the computer system.
- Adhere to department policies such as project requests, deployment procedures, and provide weekly project updates to management.
- Provide operational and on-call support as required in a 24/7 environment.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise.
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge.
- And other duties as assigned.
What you need…
- Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), service-oriented architectures, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
- General knowledge and understanding of object-oriented programming and principles
- General knowledge and understanding of relational and hierarchical database concepts
- Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- 3-5 years of experience with the Symitar core, SymXchange, PowerFrame, and EASE preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
