Position: Construction Loan Processor
Department: Mortgage Loans
Reports to: Production Supervisor
FLSA: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Responsible for all activities required to process construction loans from application through completion of property.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Processes all Construction loan applications. Gathers all necessary loan documents and files them as they are received.
- Takes necessary follow-up actions to assure receipt of complete loan packages.
- Acts as liaison with builders, realtors, third party vendors, and the member.
- Orders and reviews all documentation, i.e., appraisal, survey, title commitment, etc., and immediately notifies Construction Loan Officer of any irregularities.
- Orders all draws and completes disbursement of funds during the construction phase.
- Assists members, other departments, and department staff with inquiries or problems in a friendly and professional manner and refers more serious matters to the Production Supervisor.
- Assists others within the Loan Department as directed.
- Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training.
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to KFCU’s internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
- Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Utilizes The Member Advantage AIDINC system to identify potential member (internal or external) service needs which can be met through the sale of credit union products and services, or adherence to the department’s policy and procedures.
- Serves as a back-up to the Mortgage Loan Receptionist, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college desirable or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- 3 years financial industry experience, minimum of 1-year construction loan processing experience.
- Must exhibit a basic comprehension or arithmetic competency and possess basic clerical skills, including operating a PC.
- Must possess the ability to meet established productivity standards.
- Must possess an outgoing personality with a helpful attitude and well developed sales culture attitude toward credit union services and products.
- Accuracy and attention to details required.
- Ability to balance and deliver on requests and application processing needs from multiple Loan Originators
- Must possess and maintain good interpersonal skills with members and other employees.
- Must become familiar with all KFCU guidelines, policies and procedures, departments, and their relationship.
- Must become skilled in Mortgage Loan Systems.
- Must be capable of communicating with insurance agents, attorneys, appraisers, Realtors, and other vendors that supply services for KFCU mortgage loan department.
- Must become knowledgeable with all KFCU products and services, in order to cross-sell to members and prospects.
- Must display a willingness and ability to be cross-trained throughout the department.
- Must possess an on-going ability to keep abreast of changing policies and procedures.
- Must maintain confidentiality and display dependability.
- Overtime may be required, as work and circumstances require.
Computer Skills:
- Extensive use of personal PC required.
- Must be proficient in the Lending Operating System.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as use of internet and e-mail.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Must be able to register under the SAFE Act.
