LOCATION - Hybrid: Kansas City, MO

ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Project Engineer/Pre-Construction Manager will oversee the pre-construction phase of construction projects, which involves planning and engineering before the project begins.
Job Responsibilities Include:

Assists in the pre-construction phase of the project including site selection, design, permitting, and contract execution

Assists with business development and responding to requests for proposals and cost estimates

Ensures proposals comply with company risk management policies

Prepares budgets and take-off estimates in collaboration with project estimators

Develops a pre-construction schedule and monitors progress

Writes and ensures the execution of subcontracts and purchase orders

Reviews project documentation for accuracy and completeness

Prepares submittal packages as assigned

Tracks Requests for Information (RFIs)

Attends pre-construction/safety meetings
-
Reads and understands complex drawings and specifications

Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary

Verifies and documents that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project

Assists with required meetings with the USACE, superintendent, and the foreman responsible for the definable work prior to the start of the project.

Maintain open communication with field staff regarding all issues and work to resolutions

Contribute to all team efforts by taking ownership of assigned tasks and duties, and is fully transparent and accountable for the successful performance of assigned tasks

Performs all duties with the highest possible degree of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

5-7 years of relevant construction project experience
-
Experience in performing problem-solving activities

Capability of running and managing multiple tasks simultaneously

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem solving skills

Ability to prioritize required tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
-
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
