In this position, you will work with cross-functional teams across a set of diverse technologies to manage data security and protection tools with an automation-first mindset. You will work in an agile and innovative environment, solving complex problems and collaborating with architects and engineers to ensure the safety and security of Northwestern Mutual's data.
Bachelor’s degree, Associate's degree or equivalent experience with an emphasis in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS or related field
1-3+ years' experience in development, cloud and on-prem technologies (AWS databases, Linux), or cybersecurity
Proficiency with development and scripting languages, Python preferred
A self-motivated and driven teammate that effectively works well with other engineers, product owners, and non-technical roles.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of applicable risk management frameworks from NIST and Data Security Maturity Model
Experience with CICD pipelines and modern DevOps development practices
Engineer solutions with a focus on automation to reduce manual and repetitive tasks
Operationally support Data Security tools integrated into our on-premise and cloud database environments (relational & NoSQL)
Assist with technical support of Data Security capabilities and responding to service and escalation tickets within service-level agreements
Actively monitor, assess and recommend tactical and strategic initiatives based on new and emerging threats posing risk to our company
Stay apprised of current and proposed security changes impacting regulatory, privacy and security industry best practices
Implement remediation efforts after security assessment findings outline weaknesses requiring attention
Your passion around all things security
Your ability to employ a flexible and constructive approach to solving problems
Knowledge of data security principles, encryption techniques, access controls, and secure coding practices
Experience automating manual processes
Knowledge of workload orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
Relevant certifications from GIAC, ISC(2) and other recognized cybersecurity industry organizations
